The Maya are one of the most advanced and spiritually attuned civilizations in history. Their wisdom, rooted in the cosmos, the natural world, and the unseen realms, offers timeless guidance for living in harmony with life itself.
At the heart of this wisdom is the Mayan cosmovision, a holistic understanding of time, space, energy, and the interconnection of all beings. This knowledge is encoded in the Cholq’ij, the 260-day sacred calendar, which maps the energetic flow of creation through the 20 nawales (sacred energies) and the 13 numbers of transformation.
The human body reflects these rhythms, our 20 fingers and toes mirror the 20 nawales, while our 13 major joints echo the 13 sacred numbers. This living harmony is the Maya concept of Winaq, embodying wholeness within ourselves, our community, and the cosmos. To live in Winaq is to walk in balance between our inner and outer worlds, cultivating growth while honoring our deep interconnection with all life.

The calendar reminds us it was already written in the stars.
Living With the Sacred Calendar
The Mayan Sacred Calendar is more than a system of timekeeping, it is a sacred tool for divination, guidance, and alignment. It helps us:
-
Understand our unique energetic blueprint
-
Align with the rhythms of nature and the cosmos
-
Recognize the purpose and lessons of each day
-
Honor milestones such as births, ceremonies, and life transitions
For centuries, daykeepers have used the Cholq’ij to guide agriculture, ceremonies, marriages, naming, and initiations, ensuring human life remained in harmony with cosmic cycles. Its precise mathematical and astronomical design, woven with myth and spirit, reminds us that life is cyclical, without beginning or end.

My studies of this calendar come through my teachers, Tata Mark, Nana Lu, Nana Maria, Tata Tino, and Tata Izaias, whose lineages are rooted in K’ichean and Kaqchiquel traditions of Guatemala. Yet my connection runs deeper, it is in my blood and spirit.
I am a second-generation immigrant, born in California, with Mayan and mixed descent on my father’s side from Guatemala, and Mexica and European descent on my mother’s side. Through ceremonial work with cacao and traditional fire ceremonies, I have deepened my relationship with my Indigenous ancestors, receiving direct guidance that shapes my path. Sharing this wisdom is both an honor and a responsibility, uplifting the voices of my ancestors and ensuring these teachings live on for generations.
The Sacred Maya Calendar is a living map back to your true nature. May you open your heart to its wisdom, receive the guidance it offers, and walk in harmony with the benevolent forces that have always been with you.
